Chapter 53- A curious war

Yomi and his friends gone to the complex' front desk, to choose where they will stay. The available apartments are luckily basically the same, most of them have a beautiful sight of the seashore. As a standard throughout the complex, a handsome young man is playing flute, and another is at the desk, beside to a sign that shows the apartments available for booking;

-I think we may need only one apartment, since each one have room to seven people.- Kurama points.
-Okay, choose the one you likes most, Youko.- Yomi smiles.

-Hey, just a minute! -Kuronue appears suddenly- I heard 7 people? You're five, why do not we share the same apartment?-He smiles.
-Ah Kuronue... you know, we...
-Decided! I'll stay with you, hahaha!

Kuronue grabs himself on Youko, who restrains himself to not push him away;

-Okay. You got a room with sea sight, enjoy it well! Our complex has places where we serve meals, and a typical food restaurant.
-Oh, how beautiful you are too!- Shiori smiles.
-Thank you, the kimono you chose looks good.
Kurama moved on, close to Yomi. Kuronue tried to put himself between them, especially beside Yomi to separate him from Kurama;
-Hey Kuronue, hahaha, take it easy, okay?
-We still have a lot to talk about!

Yomi was annoyed with the forced overlap that Kuronue was doing, but kept his Youkai energy under control. Anyway, it was not acceptable for him Kuronue being so close to Youko, displeasing him and Youko himself.
One of the attractions of the complex, besides the architecture and the preservation of the habits and clothing of an ancient people, was in the environment itself. The site was all built on a hillside overlooking both the sea and parts of inland. Some Yomitan skyscrapers were visible from there.
Everything was built guided by military strategy. The mountain allows a wide view point, besides being a natural obstacle to the arrival of the enemy. The temple complex was isolated for hundreds of years, and only the locals knew the difficult paths to get there.

With modern technology, bridges and tunnels have made access very easy and fast. Some of the bridges that lead to the complex are among the highest in the world, it spans valleys over 2000 feet deep and 3000 feet wide.All these bridges and tunnels were built during Yomi's govnt, replacing the old sinuous and dangerous roadway. Investments were justified as a result of the intense traffic of tourists within the region and to create a new expressway to arrive in the rapid developing city of Aizhai. The new 6-lane road took almost three years to be built, cost about 300 million dollars, and has increased tourist traffic, bringing more money to the complex, allowing it to be maintained and restored by private companies.

The available accommodations in the complex are all beautiful and reasonably detailed, mostly are houses over 400 years old, divided in smaller apartments to be more profitable. A large central courtyard, with flowers and cherry trees, divide the houses.
Yomi and Youko decided to walk together through the temples, as did Shiori and Byakuya, along with Botan;

-Kuronue, me and Mitsui are going to walk through the temples now, then I ...
-I'm going with you!- Kuronue insists.
-Please, Kuronue, respect my friend's wish.- Yomi gets irritated.
-Ah Mitsui, calm down, what's so wrong with me going with you?
-I have something very private to talk to Mitsui, Kuronue, this is why I came in this place.-Youko grabs Yomi's hand and pulls him.-Come on, Mitsui.

Yomi accompanies Youko. Kuronue stands still, not understanding his action;

-But what happened to him? And this Mitsui, he has a familiar energy ... I'll investigate this!

Yomi and Kurama walked up the mountain up to the top. The morning sun was delicious, weakened by the light mist, and a breeze was blowing;

-Kurama, Kuronue is nagging us a lot, and being abusive. This disguise will not last long, why do not we tell the truth?

-Don't mock me, Kuronue. Mitsui is blind, and so I must accompany him in everything.
-Until in the bathroom?- Kuronue laughs.
-I ... aaaarrrgghhh!- Youko turns red.
-Okay, I always thought that you're quite feminine... So you're going to stay here? Are not you going to the beach?
-Not now, it's still early and the temperature down there may be low, furthermore bathing in the sea may cover my hair in sand and salt...- Youko lowers his ears.
-Oh, that's fine. And where are you going to eat lunch? I'm going to that restaurant near the front desk, invite your friends and let's have lunch together and talk more! See you later!

Kuronue shrugs and goes down the mountain;

-Don't give a shit to Kuronue, youko, you love Botan a lot.-Yomi reassures the situation.
-Arggh I know, but he always comes with these jokes, that's his way.
-I just thought strange that he said it but he, ironically, is alone, hahaha!- Yomi laughs.
-Hahaha yes, Yomi, it's true! I'll use this to mock him!
-Well, let's go down then? I don't know where our friends went.
-Yes, just now.

Byakuya, Shiori and Botan were walking through the temple complex, entering all of them;

-That place is so beautiful, don't you think my youkai?- Shiori kisses Byakuya inthe cheek.
-Yes, it reminds me my epoch a lot...
Yomi and Kurama arrive next, and meet with them;

-So, have you been walked a lot?

-Oh, very much! Where were you? -Byakuya controls the conversation.
-We went up to the top of the mountain, it's a fantastic place, you need to go there!
-Later we may go... What about Kuronue?
-Ah... he went after us again, I asked him not to go, but he went.

Uncertainties about Kuronue only increased, and he didn't back down even a millimeter on the issue of treating Yomi respectfully. Yomi, on the other hand, has already fulfilled his part, which is increasingly helping him gain more and more credibility even in Reikai.
